There are people who build cars for show. There are those who do it for the go. There are those who have nice parts because they understand quality and then there are those that just don’t give a shit. Chris, is of the later breed.
I first heard of Chris through his site, Ivy League East. When I first moved up to NY, I started following them as a way to get to know the local car scene here in the Tri-State area. We chatted a little here and there but nothing ever came of it. When he got these wheels (replacing the polished Work XD-9’s he had before), I knew I had to see it in person and share it with everyone. The camber, the ride height, everything was a sight to be seen.
Chris understands the car game very well and don’t get me wrong, understands quality. From the Megan coilovers to the Amuse lip and the Brickyard paint, he knows quality. He is above all, a wheel whore. Since this shoot, he has changed wheels and will be changing again when his new wheels are done being made. Yes, he has (had) XXR’s. Yes, they are knockoffs. No, he doesn’t care. They were more of a placeholder or measuring stick, until his new set up is ready.
The wheels are 18×10+25 all around with an astonishing -10 degrees of camber in the rear. Watching him drive was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Most of the tire is not even on the ground, sparks flying every which way and yet Chris still drove faster than me (in my stock height car).
